Everyday, I wondered... maybe love wasn't all they want.
But what do they really want?
Ibidunni was an angel... He began
and she was mine
I loved her and I believed she loved me
Ibidunni!!! my soft spoken damsel.
Ours was what everyone called relationship goals
We were picture perfect
Ibidunni mi!! she was 'it' for me
Then, one weekend, Ibidunni was married
Adegbola became her husband
Adegbola!!! Ibidunni's former lover who wouldn't leave her alone
We had laughed about him
Ibidunni always hissed at the mention of him
But my angel stood smiling in the picture...
Dressed in all white, like the angel I had always imagined her to be.
Ibidunni said she was sorry
That I am a good man...
But Adegbola was rich and could take care of her
So, what did you do? I asked
I swallowed the pain,He said

And when I had digested it, I went back to the river to fish again.
Then came Ariyike...
Ariyike! the simple but elegant queen...
She had my heart from the beginning
So I began to care for her like her name asked me to...
Ariyike was here to stay... oh! my hook had caught the best fish
Then Ariyike said that I'm a rare kind, but I wasn't for her...
I was too nice... and she was sorry.
So, what will you do, I asked
I will not cry...
I'm just wonder what they all really wanted
and I'm going to find my answer.
Guy no worry, your time go come. U will find the true one for u. But the problem with u is that, u are quick to go back to the river to cast ur net, seeking for a golden fish. Isn't it obvious that u lost Ibidunni to the other guy because he is rich and can take care of her. You both laughed the guy to scorn in your closet but she admires him secretly. Too bad for u. Turns out she wasn't as honest as you thought she was! Oh! and I hate to break this to u, Ariyike didn't leave u because u are too nice, c'mon that's a dumb reason to leave anyone. She left cos...well cos you're still the same broke ass nigga. All girls want this- A rich handsome guy who is fun to be with, caring and God fearing (most of them don't really mean the last one sha). Don't worry if u are not handsome. The riches can cover for that. So my guy, double your hustle. I feel your pain. But the best revenge is for you to later get much richer than Ibidunni's husband. And probably boss the guy. Goodluck.
ReplyDeleteDear Taiwo,I'm afraid I can't attempt an answer to today's poser. Unlike last week's piece which was a query from a 'lady' wanting to know what we menfolks generally want in a lady, today's demands the inverse of the former poser.
ReplyDeleteAside the obvious fact that I'm not a lady, and, hence, is situationally handicapped to present a subjective account on your poser, I'm also on a real quest to find out this answer having experienced one or two 'road blocks' myself - 'roadblocks' that led me to asking, often rhetorically, this particular question: what do women want from we men in a relationship??
I pray the ladies on this platform urgently attend to this question!
